Summer Projects :)

This summer I have been inspired to work on some craft projects. Which is a little scary, since I am not extremely crafty :). I think it has something to do with all of the incomplete projects in my life that are out of my control. When I make a craft, I can actually complete something!

The first two photos show some blue toile fabric that my mom gave me that I loved. There was just enough to make a (very simple) valance for my laundry room. The walls are white and boring. We have never painted it and since I spend so much time in that tiny room, I decided to do something small to spruce it up.

The next two pics are a baby blanket I am working on. It is so much fun! I was making it for a friend's baby, but...dear hubby wanted to learn how to use the sewing machine a bit. So, after coming home from the grocery store one night, he had sewn half of the blanket! Most of it is on the machine, but the binding I am doing by hand. Since it has been such a combined effort, I have decided to give it to our youngest! Isn't that awful? But, as soon as I finish it, I will make another to make for my friend's baby :).

Sarah at In the Midst of It has inspired me to kick up breakfast a notch or two. I am not a huge breakfast fan, but she gave some great ideas on her blog. Thanks, Sarah! The last picture is actually of some banana nut muffins (that I added chocolate chips to). I did not get this recipe from Sarah, but she was the inspiration behind the muffins-ha!ha!

So, in between diaper changes, sibling conflict management, next year's lesson planning, and home organizing, this is what I have been doing!

I am not sure when I will post again. Hopefully, I will not wait another two months :).

Happy Summer!

So glad to see a post from you! Looks like you've done well with your creative side. It's amazing what a little sprucing up will do to a laundry room! And how cute that your hubby wanted to learn to sew. I'd be keeping that blanket too. :) Banana nut muffins? My favorite! I'm sure the boys wish that I would step breakfast up a notch.

That sock monkey fabric is adorable! Good job :)

And I'm glad I "inspired" you to beef up breakfast--it's still a labor of love for me, but I'm hoping it turns into a habit soon!!

Oh, I love the curtains! I love toile. I did my little girls room in it in pink. I'm not a 'sew-er' however, but I so want to learn. I'm going to have to take a class or something! ---Lynn
