This Weekend...
This weekend should be a relatively quiet one at our house, I think :). This Spring is bringing with it a flurry of activity and busy-ness...but this weekend I will bask in the mundane! Well, whatever "mundane" can really be in a house with five children!
Tonight I have been working on a grocery list for an early morning run to Target & Harris Teeter, hunting for bargains :). I listened to my mom read to two of our children, while the two youngest were sleeping. The ACC Tournament was on the tv while Harvey, Trey, & I enjoyed our ritual of going through our brackets to see who had the most right so far. Please tell me how on earth a certain four year old boy is beating us all?! Especially one who keeps cheering for "Mi-Omi" (Miami) and the "Tarheels." As for cheering for Tarheels after their pitiful season? Well, that makes me proud of his dedication :).
I am rambling. It has been a good, productive week of school which makes me happy, as well as tired :). We have had some sickness, but the school kept going. I think the key for our school was some motivation/accountability by a certain friend of Trey's to wake up early and just get it done! For Jonathan & Rebekah, the key was definitely getting back into our "Workbox" habit. It is so helpful to us!
I will close with this thought from Sally Clarkson that I read this week in her book "The Mom Walk." It is a prayer that is at the end of her chapter on "Choosing the Light Things for My Family." She said, "Dear Father of Light...Help me to find time to make a habit of basking in Your presence, drinking in the beauty of Your creation, and soaking in the reality of Your Word. Give me rest for my soul, so that when others need to draw from me, there will be light and righteousness and peace from which to draw. Help my soul to be a treasure chest full of Your wisdom from which my children may constantly draw. Give me the self-discipline to so order my life that habits of retreating in Your presence will provide fuel for demanding and taxing days. Fill me with the light of Jesus..."
I encourage and challenge myself and to whoever may be reading this, are you retreating in God's presence? Are you making time to bask in God's presence, drink in His beautiful creation, and soak in His precious Word? I do not know about you, but I want my soul to be a treasure chest full of God's wisdom from which my children will want to draw!
Have a great weekend!
