November Thankfulness
Today I am thankful for the ranch where our son, Jonathan, rides. We finished our fall semester today of riding at the therapeutic horseback riding ranch. The director is a selfless woman who obeyed a calling from God, even though it was hard and out of her comfort zone. This ranch is the one place we go where I never have to worry about what his behavior will be or what others will think. Jonathan is Jonathan and it is a wonderful thing :). He is so happy when he rides. The last few weeks as they walked him around the arena, he has been serenading his side walkers with all of the songs he has been learning from our Christmas musical at church :). Today, once when he passed by us, he signed "I love you" to me and had the biggest grin on his face.
It always is crazy getting there as it is nowhere close to our house. But the further in the country we go, the more trees we see and fewer cars, the more I find myself starting to relax. And even though it is not always easy sitting through the lessons each week with the younger kids, I still encourage them to cheer on their brother, all the special horses there, and the other very special riders. It is all worth it when I see the smile on his face :).
As a bonus, Rebekah got to ride for the 3rd time this semester! There have been a few lessons when a rider did not show, but the volunteers and horse were ready for someone to ride. In her kindness, the director has allowed Rebekah to ride which has been an extra special treat :).

(I apologize for the blurriness of these pics. They were coming in from a trail ride when I took them; I am think this camera may be coming to the end of its life)!
