Day 14

Today, we woke up to cooler temperatures in Utah.  Little did we know that cool was going to quickly change to COLD!!  Another Gouch first was experienced on this trip...snow in June!  Apparently in the areas we were driving through, snow is not uncommon but also not the norm for the this time of year.  According to locals, they had an usually long winter with much more snow than they normally have.  So, we could not resist stopping on the side of the road to take pictures in our shorts in the snow!  Crazy!

In Idaho, they had received 3 inches of snow just that morning!  We drove through the lower portion of Idaho on our way to tonight's stop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Harvey had a planned for us to stop at the Oregon Trail Living History Museum.  It was wonderful!  The employees were dressed the same as they would have been back then and stayed in character almost the whole time!  They even had a covered wagon simulator that we rode in.  It was a great little museum that we really enjoyed.  It made us appreciate our "crowded" minivan when we saw how the pioneers traveled and lived along the Oregon Trail.  As a side note, they even had fine china in the museum that women had actually sold along the trail.  Beautiful china, but sad to think of how they felt when they had to get rid of another piece of the former lives in order to survive.

Then we got back in the van to drive some more...we are enjoying seeing horses, cattle, and more of God's beautiful country.

There was not a whole lot that did not work today (thankfully), except maybe we should have brought coats and sleds instead lightweight jackets and swimsuits! Ha!

What really worked today: Chronicles of Narnia on cd.  It put Elizabeth and Jonathan to sleep and everyone else listen quietly.  Ahhh!!  The Focus on the Family edition is so wonderfully made!!

Carried by His grace,
