Proverbs 27:2

In my quiet time today, I read Proverbs 27:2. I probably have read it before, but it stuck out today as if it were the first time. The verse reads, "Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips." It really spoke to me. For some silly reason, I need praise! I do not consider myself an insecure person by nature, but when it comes to praise or recognition, I want it. And, to make matters worse, if I do not get it, I have to suppress the need to give it myself, to announce what I have done! How ridiculous! I wish I did not feel that way. I am glad that God sent that reminder my way today. I just need to do His work and be content in knowing that it is pleasing to Him.
