Soccer Champ

Well, the Princess is going to play soccer for the first time. To some, this is not a big deal but it really is to me. You see, I have the athletic ability of a pencil. Seriously! We are going to let her play on a team with J and she is quite excited. When husband told her that it was starting this week, she got very quiet. He was thinking, "Uh-oh, can't be good." He did not expect what instead came out of her mouth, "Wow. I am probably going to be the best one out there. I have played A LOT in the backyard." Self-confidence? Apparently not an issue with this one :). Oh dear!

On the same subject (oh yes there's more :)...tonight we bought her first ever cleats (first ever athletic anything for that matter)...we were at the sporting goods store getting, of course, very PINK cleats, PINK shin guards, PINK soccer ball, PINK socks, etc. when I started having second thoughts about this. I mean, she is MY daughter, would she really like this, does she REALLY want to play? So I asked her if she was SURE she wanted to do this. She replied with, "Of course I want to play. I play all the time in the backyard with T. Soccer is my favorite sport. I mean, if it is a sport. If it's not, then it's still my favorite."

Yep, she's my daughter all right :).

"If it's a sport"--now that's my kind of girl! Good luck to her :) When I played soccer in the 2nd grade, I scored for the other team. And I didn't even care, I was just proud of myself for scoring! Obviously, soccer was my first and last sport :)
