Our Curriculum
(This is a photo from our first day of school :).This is very loosely how our day works:
We all do Bible together each morning. One of my good friends writes her own inductive Bible Study for the kids in our homeschool group, so we do the younger lessons together. Our oldest does his own after we have gone over and talked about the younger study. After Bible, we do History all together. This year we are doing Beautiful Feet. After we have read and discussed, once again, our oldest does more difficult assignments on his own. Then, usually it is on to Calendar time for the three youngest and the Pledge of Allegiance. After that, I start the tricky part of giving each child individual teaching/learning time while trying to keep the others occupied! We do have a rough schedule that we try to follow, some days better than others. After lunch, during B's naptime, is when I work with our oldest and tie up any loose ends with his younger siblings. The following
T--6th grade (I cannot believe I am homeschooling a middle schooler--I feel so blessed!)
Spelling Workout
Rod and Staff Grammar
Apologia General Science
A Reason for Handwriting
Beautiful Feet Intermediate History
Saxon Math
J--1st grade
Usborne books for Science
Adapted Bob Jones curriculum for children with Down syndrome for Reading
Handwriting Without Tears
Math--now this one is a little tricky. I was doing Math-U-See but it was getting tough to keep up. So we are going back to lots of review. I plan to pick it back up at some point, though
Beautiful Feet Primary History
Princess--1st Grade
Usborne books for Science
My Father's World Reading
Handwriting Without Tears
Math-U-See
Beautiful Feet Primary History
B--our almost 3 year old
Just trying hard to keep him occupied and busy so he stays out of mischief :). I try to rotate some play time for him with each of the siblings, as well as myself. He loves doing "cool" as he calls it and thinks he is big stuff!
On 3 Thursdays of the month, our homeschool group meets. I direct the choir that J and Princess are in. All three of the oldest are in Bible Study classes. T also plays in the handchime choir, as well as taking public speaking.
T & J take piano and J is starting Therapeutic Horseback Riding in a Christian program, while T volunteers at the ranch at the same time. We opted for the riding this fall, rather than soccer, and are thrilled with our decision!
So, as you can see, life is busy, but does not feel too busy. Which is good, since my due date with baby #5 is just five weeks away!
Hopefully, I will post again sooner than later :).
