The Vacation I Did Not Want to End :)
We just came back from a vacation to Virginia and I cannot say enough just how much fun we had! We visited Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, & Smithfield. We learned about history, visited with family, and just had fun!! We planned this trip as a final field trip of sorts, as we had studied American History this past year (we used the curriculum "Beautiful Feet"). It was also a great excuse to see some cousins of mine, along with their children, and one of my aunts.
Here we are on one of the ships in Jamestown (I forgot which one :). It is amazing just how many people they fit on the ships and how tight the quarters were.
Everyone should feel much safer now with Benjamin guarding the fort :).
Elizabeth decided on this trip to start holding her own bottle, come very close to crawling :), and to cut two teeth!! She was such a good baby, though, we did not even know about the teeth until they had popped out; she had not been fussy at all!
I think Jonathan won this battle!
He has now been promoted to "General" and is writing home about the battle in the soldier's camp :).
Trey has always loved papers, so naturally, he really enjoyed the shop of the printer in Williamsburg!
A dear friend let Rebekah borrow her Colonial dress. While we were there, we bought her this hat and mob cap. Honestly, when she wore this dress, our little girl did not complain one time! It was so hot the two days we were in Williamsburg and lots of walking was done. We think it was the dress that took away the complaints, and so Harvey called it the "Happy Spirit" dress :). Now, if only a couple of our boys could have worn it as well...oh I kid, I kid!
While we were there, we also celebrated our 16th Wedding Anniversary :). I love Harvey so much and am thankful for the husband and father that he is!
There is just something so nice about getting away :). We needed this vacation, and, truthfully, did not want it to end!
