November Thankfulness
Today, I am thankful for Benjamin. He recently turned 5 and boy does he make us smile :). He has the slightest hint of a lisp, chubby cheeks lightly covered with freckles. He has a reddish tint to his hair that, when he wakes up, can be so curly and big!! He loves tools and "Handy Manny." He loves his Playmobil pirate ship he received for his birthday. He has a slight obsession/fascination/fear of spiders. He insists that they live in his closet and also recommended to me the other day that I let them come and help me clean our house :). Benjamin loves recycling both by way of the recyling can and by collecting trash and turning it into "treasures." He recently used almost a whole roll of tape by taking two large drink can boxes and another lid and turning them into bunk beds for his stuffed animals ;). In fact, at a cousin birthday party Fri. night when I thought he was admiring the gifts, I realized he was admiring all the cardboard packaging everything came in and whispered to me that he could make some really cool things from all of those boxes!
He loves his baby sister, loves to dig and have stuffed animal adventures with Jonathan, loves to play basketball and trampoline football with Trey, and loves it when Rebekah plays Playmobil with him. I think he is a passionate boy, full of life and energy and loudness one minute, giving me mommy hugs and kisses the next! The things he says always make us laugh and smile. He recently told us that he wanted to build an "elebator" to heaven so he could go see Papa Billy (my dad). Oh, and I have not even mentioned how much he loves his daddy and spending time with him!
I am so grateful that God gave us Benjamin. I have told him recently about how he was such a sweet baby and how I treasured each minute that I got to hold him. After a couple of miscarriages at that point, and wondering if he would be our last (thankfully he was not :), I savored our baby moments with him. The life verse that we chose for him is Deuteronomy 33:12. "Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders." I found that verse exactly one week before he was born and knew then that I wanted to name him Benjamin (that had been one of our top two choices :). The verse is Moses' blessing on the tribe of Benjamin.
Benjamin, your daddy & I pray that you will always rest secure in the Lord, that He will shield you, and that you will always rest between the Lord's shoulders. We love you!
