Day Eight
Day Eight of our road trip found us waking up in Vermont and spending the morning/early afternoon driving through beautiful countryside! Truly, I could have spent the rest of our road trip in this area and been perfectly content! The mountains, rivers, and streams were breathtaking, as were the covered bridges. I loved riding through quaint little towns and so wanted to stop. But, we had to keep moving. In New Hampshire, we went visited a place called "Castle in the Clouds." We were unable to tour it as a wedding was about to happen! But we still got to walk around a lot of the property and see the beautiful views from the carriage house. It was so peaceful looking out and seeing mountains and water. On our way out, we stopped where they had a rainbow trout pond. The kids got to feed them. They were huge! It was nice to just hang out and not be rushed.
From there, we drove on to Portland, Maine. We really enjoyed our time in that little town. Once again, we love the water so it was a great place to be :). For the second time in my life that I recall, I tried lobster. The first time was in Charlotte years ago and it was rubbery ;(. Well, this lobster was amazing. Rebekah and I both had lobster rolls and it was crazy good. And the price was so much cheaper than in the Carolinas as well! We ate out on the water and enjoyed ourselves.

The famous (or not so much) Norman Rockwell Museum :)
