Day Seven
We woke up in Montreal, checked out of our hotel, and started driving! It felt like we could not get back in the U.S. fast enough :). We made a quick stop at a Tim Horton's, which really was a lot like our Dunkin' Donuts, in my opinion. Except they had flies in their donut case. But, we won't talk about that. They had a sweet young woman with Down syndrome who was working there. I will be honest, that was the first person I had seen in Canada with a disability. I am sure they were there, but we did not see any and I found that odd. The other interesting thing is that no one seemed to give Jonathan a second look while we were there. In the States, sometimes we get looks and stares. Not necessarily bad or good looks...just making another observation.

After breakfast, we made it to the border. The agent came to the van, opened the door, and asked all of the children their names and if we were their parents. Fortunately, they all said yes :). Then we began our drive into Vermont. It was so beautiful! We stopped to do a tour at Ben & Jerry's and have some ice cream. YUM! We then went to tour a Maple Sugar Farm. That was a little disappointing as they really didn't have a tour and only showed an old dvd from quite some time ago. Oh well. After that, it was laundry time! We found a small laundromat in Montpelier that was very clean and across the street from a restaurant. Score! So, we took our boxes in, quickly sorted clothes, sprayed Oxiclean on the clothes with stains and then started washing! Sorry this is soooooo boring, but some people like to read the how-to details from our trips...or not ;). They had a beautiful capital building in Montpelier, but other than that it was a very small town. We were surprised at the size!
We stayed at a Holiday Inn that we like to now call "The Smoking Skunk" hotel. Our hall smelled like a skunk smoking a cigarette. If skunks smoked, that is. And, in case you want to know, it was a non-smoking, non-pet hotel :). All things that make us appreciate home even more!
That was our day!
