Day 10 2016

Our day started with slowly packing up.  We had two rooms and it was so nice to have some space!
One interesting thing about this area was that in addition to spots for beach fires again, there were random swing sets up and down the beach.

We enjoyed amazing donuts from Dundee's Donuts, more coffee from Human Bean, and then more driving. For lunch, after arriving in Portland, we were super excited to finally get some sweet tea at CHICK FIL A!!!  Rebekah had been tracking the closest CFA on her CFA app :).

Our next stop was a beautiful rose garden.  The garden had the best smelling roses I ever remember smelling! The fragrance reminded me of my sweet Granny Edmonds and Aunt Doris.  The roses were beautiful.  It was fascinating to see all the varieties.

After the rose garden visit, we rode the air tram.  It was pretty cool!  Here is our view of Portland from the air tram.

We then drove out of the city of Portland to Multnomah Waterfall.  It was a pretty steep hike.  Jonathan and I stopped at the half mile mark while the others continued.  We took some photos and sent them to his surgeons, who were still at work.  They texted back and were both excited to see all that he was doing and that we were able to go on our trip! The others continued on and helped Elizabeth who got a little tired, but still hung tough.  That little girl has enjoyed hiking ever since our first road trip!  The waterfall was beautiful and did not disappoint.

After a great dinner at another local restaurant (we love going local :), we went to Powell's bookstore.  The largest new and used bookstore in the US took up one whole city block! We stayed there about two hours.  It was a fun experience.

Man, I love these kiddos!  They are all so fun, with such unique personalities.  Anyone who knows us knows that we are all so different, yet with similarities.  I love how each of our kids has this blend of Edmonds & Gouch.  It is fun to see them grow and develop and change.  My prayer is that we will always direct them to Christ and His plan for their lives, not what we want/think they should do and become.  He knows so much than we do what they need.  In the early morning hours when my sleep is often restless in all these different hotels, I pray for each of them and their needs.  But mostly that they will hunger and thirst after God and His Word.

After our time in the bookstore, there was one more donut shop Harvey had to check out.  Even though it was almost 11pm and we were exhausted and we had already donuts for breakfast, we had heard that Voodoo Donuts was an amazing donut shop.  I will admit, it was a little creepier than I expected.

Seven very different donuts (actually the two Harveys got the same kind :) for seven very different people.

When we got to the hotel, we were exhausted and ready for a good night's sleep.  We were excited because the next morning would bring us entry into state #48!
