Day 14 2016
It is hard to believe our trip is coming to an end! We woke up to breakfast in the hotel and then headed into Seattle. Hotels that provide breakfast are a big money saver for a family of seven. Fortunately for us, there have been that have had breakfast, and most of them have actually been pretty good. Once in Seattle, we drove straight to the Public Market Center. It had amazing smells and interesting sights! They had everything from fish to flowers to pastries to souvenirs. But what I really loved were the musicians on the street corners. We heard and saw some pretty talented people! We saw fish throwing, had some amazing Russian pastries and got coffee from the original Starbucks. Yum!
Trey likes his coffee strong, and the rest of us like it sweet ;).
After walking around a bit, we went up to the top of the Space Needle. Thankfully, rain and fog held off so we had great views of the city, water, and mountains!
If you look closely, just above Elizabeth's head on the NC side of the map, it says "Gouch, Charlotte, NC." Pretty cool!
After our day, we dug into some crab, complete with bibs and hammers! It was delicious. We all really love fresh seafood, which is not always found in Charlotte. Lots of fresh seafood has been a treat for us all on this trip.
Thanks to a NC connection, we were able to get tickets to go to a Seattle Mariners baseball game. We had a great time and the evening ended with fireworks! The Safeco Field has a retractable roof that they opened up for one of the most amazing fireworks displays we have ever seen. What a fitting way to end the last night of our road trip! It was a blessing to be together on a beautiful night.
This picture does not really give it justice, but the fireworks were pretty awesome! One of the things I love about our kids is that almost without fail, every time we have eaten or gone anywhere, as soon as it is over, they all thank us. Harvey and I appreciate their gratitude. I know I am biased, and even though we all have our faults in our family (as every family does), I think we have some pretty awesome children. It has been a joy to travel the country together!
